$0 Tax Impact Over Frozen Dollar Amount for Ages 65 & Older
Ages 65 & Older $0 tax impact over frozen dollar amount
Homeowners 65 and over will not see an increase over their frozen dollar amount due to the passage of Proposition A if they have filed for and received their over 65 homestead exemption through the county appraisal district.

Since 2019, state law requires all bond propositions for any school district to have the phrase "THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE" on all ballot language for bond propositions. Homeowners age 65 & older who have filed for and received the Over 65 exemption will not see an increase over their frozen dollar amount if there have been no major additions or improvements to their home. Check your most recent Notice of Assessed Value Change to see if you will be impacted.

New ElementaryProposition A includes the construction of a new elementary school designed to serve 575 to 600 students, featuring modern instructional spaces, a library, a gym/tornado shelter, and a new playground. With Roosevelt Elementary originally built in 1935 and only one new academic campus added in the past 65 years, this investment would address aging facilities, ADA compliance, and infrastructure.

Proposition A also includes an additional lane at the new elementary school, impacting traffic flow and safety.

Secondary Campus UpgradesProposition A includes renovations to all classrooms and restrooms at the secondary campus, originally built in 1963. With the district’s school buildings averaging 65 years old and the last major academic facility investment dating back almost 50 years, these updates aim to modernize learning spaces. The cafeteria will also expand its serving line and seating area, allowing all students to eat in the cafeteria rather than the practice gym.

District Facility UpgradesProposition A includes district-wide facility upgrades, including a new Grounds/Maintenance Facility, an updated sewer system, and a transportation fleet awning. These improvements aim to support daily operations and maintain services across the district.

The current maintenance building, built in the 1950s, and the maintenance shop, built in 1972, are in poor condition and past their useful life. The quonset hut, used for storage, was built in 1977. These facilities have ADA compliance issues and an inefficient location for deliveries. Needed updates include fencing, LED lighting, data cabling, and asphalt improvements.
